Tip #2 – Not Knowing How Much You’ll Pay For Original Medicare

If you’ve worked for 10 years (equivalent of 40 quarters) or married (for at least 1 year) and qualifying off a spouse’s work record, your PART A premium would cost $0 – worth $505/month! The standard or base Part B premium is $174.70/month if your 2022 household income was $103K or less (filing single) or $206K filing jointly. There are 5 additional premium levels based on your income. The most you could pay is $594/month for Part B and you’ll also have a IRMAA surcharge on your Part D.
